If you have ever met or spoken to Luxotic Retreats CEO,Leticia Ricks, then you know firsthand that she is such an incredibly positive, motivational and inspirational person, to say the least.
We wanted to take time out today on her birthday to celebrate our founder, who embodies the spirit of Luxotic everyday and share more about Leticia, and while we keep a running list of why we love her, we are excited to share some of the reasons why she is someone worth celebrating and you soon will love her too.
She is a remarkable woman and leader in her profession.
Leticia is currently DEI Program Manager at Meta after spending a number of years as Senior Diversity Recruiting Program Manager for Amazon Global Diversity and Inclusion Org. With over 7 years of experience in corporate and agency recruitment, Leticia has found her passion in recruiting and connecting people, places, opportunities and experiences.
She is a role model for women and girls of color.
Growing up in Plainfield, NJ, she has faced many challenges, but Leticia has never given up on herself or her dreams. She remains active in her home church as a youth leader and a role model, exemplifying her faith and dedication through her service to a number of missions including the, Saved by Grace prayer call every morning at 6:30 am. Leticia’s perseverance and her journey are testaments that with God all things are possible and she remains an inspiration to all of those who have a dream and are willing to work hard for it. Anytime she has a vision, she’s not afraid to share it, or create it.
She is a serial startup success!
In addition to being CEO of Luxotic Retreats, Leticia has founded several other successful companies and ventures including Futuricks Enterprises; home to Futuricks Faces-Paint Parties & Event Services as well as Futuricks Fitness, the Hustle | Work Balance Podcast to name a few.
We sat down with Leticia for an intimate conversation to learn more about her; her inspiration, evolution and her story. Here is what she had to say:
Q: What motivated you to build Luxotic Retreats?
LR: I was motivated to build by the people....by the need. I love the feedback our guests share when they’ve had a great travel experience. I am motivated by the stories our guests share about new successes they experience from the learning on our retreat. I’m always amazed by the networking and organic collaborations guests make from our retreats. I love building retreats that busy and successful entrepreneurs and professionals find valuable.
Q: How do you keep the balance between working for a multi-international company and having a travel company?
LR:God is the main key to all balance! Second key is time management. By managing my calendar and my days, having scheduled time for work, hustle and balance, it allows me to focus and give everything in my life its own dedicated time.
Q: When did you consider yourself a success?
LR: I believe success is ever changing and evolving. I always find myself striving for the next level of success after I reach my initial goal. I think, understanding “growth” is truly when you find, or consider should I say, -yourself as a success. Once I reach my goal I am always looking up for the next mountain to climb and conquer and I often find myself going,"OK....now what's next!"
Q.You always speak so openly about why you love to travel, what does traveling mean for you?
LR: Traveling for me is self care…it means rest, rejuvenation and reset - which really is giving new energy or new vigor to something. Traveling somewhere new and beautiful allows me to absorb the new energy of the culture that I get to learn about and experience. Traveling helps to expand my mindset, allowing me to find new parts of myself. Every once in a lifetime travel experience I have affirms that I am worthy the absolute best, and worthy of creating memories and experiences like this in every way of my life and if that is not self care and self love…I don’t know what is.
Q: What is your favorite travel memory? And Why?
LR: My destination wedding in Dominican Republic - hands down! Besides marrying my soulmate in paradise, this trip is really when I fell in love…the scenery, the experience- just everything made me fall in love with my husband all over again which I mean, what better way to say I do. But this trip is where I fell in love with travel again , especially group travel. The idea of creating destination experiences for groups flooded over me everyday watching my family and friends experience this memory with me for more than just one day. It was this trip that planted the seed for Luxotic Retreats.
Q: What are 3 things you have learned from starting Luxotic Retreats?
LR: Whew 3 is hard…but if I had to I’d say;
1.Anything worth having takes times, any place worth going takes time to get there.
2.Relationships are everything-they are bridges that connect people and goals make sure you take good care of them.
3.Everything has an order, take your time, give yourself grace but make sure you are taking the correct steps in the right order to get where you intend to go.
Q: How does it feel to have a successful career, a well-funded travel company, be a wife, and a mother of 3 at the same time? How do you keep a balance between all of them?
LR: It feels like a dream. It’s a blessing to be able to see everything that I prayed for manifest and watch it become even more than I could have ever imagined. I love being able to work, hustle, and balance it all with grace. It has taught me so many things, it has sharpened my skill set and literally continues to be the driving force behind building Luxotic.It's not easy by any means but everyday I view the juggle as a skill and a strength instead of a burden.This is the exact reason why I started the Work Hustle Balance Podcast, to tell my story and hopefully reach someone listening who needs to know they are not in this climb to success alone.
